flashes of hope

last week I had the honor of partnering with Flashes of Hope as a volunteer photographer.  

     the mission of this incredible organization is to photograph every child with cancer
        until there is a cure.

their operation is not just about taking pictures, but about using the gift of photography to help change the way children with life threatening illnesses see themselves.
   
   it's about documenting a moment of happiness and celebration, which forever preserves the grace,
         dignity and beauty of each child.

I had the pleasure last summer to document the celebration of the reuniting of family--three generations returning to their home town, reliving their own childhood memories through their children.

the energy was incomparable. the fun was unending. the love just flowed and flowed.

chicago area family photography: the missing months of 2011

it literally has been forever since I've spent time sharing images from recent sessions.

     it's not because I've forgotten, but because I've been busy. really busy. and that's mostly really great news, except when it comes to things like blogs, and keeping up with posting work. or tweeting. or pinning. or sharing anything at all, for that matter.

anyway, it's a new year, and a new day. I plan to stay connected this time . . . we'll see how long that lasts.

in the mean time, here is a little sneak peek of all the fun that I've been hoarding.
     I plan to share more from each of these moments. and soon. so come back and visit whenever you get a chance. knowing you'll be here will be good motivation.

...

it's not a major holiday. no one is having a birthday. there's nothing specific to celebrate,
     and christmas cards are a long way off.

but time moves quickly, and the everyday moments we'll want to remember.

 

 

 

 

 

if capturing our lives, our love, the personalities of our children can help us slow time,
     even if just a little,
